Alison Coolican BSc RMT

Facilitate ease.

I am a Registered Massage Therapist in Vernon, BC and my work is Integrated Myofascial Therapy.

I study with local and international leaders in the area of myofascial, visceral and neurofascial manual therapy, which incorporates orthopeadic assessment, myofascial therapy, viscera-focussed manual therapy, neuromeningeal therapy (addressing nerves and the nervous system) and movement re-training.  This type of treatment helps to alleviate strains and snags within the web of connective tissue in the body, including the fascial covering of muscles, nerves, organs and blood vessels. The work is helpful for those of all walks of life and abilities. I have worked with competitive athletes, dancers, kids, elders, pre-and-post partum women, recently injured folks and those who have a complicated history of injury or stresses that still cause pain and tension. The goal is to help you move in an integrated, ease-ful way so you can do the activities that bring you health and joy.

Share knowledge.

I share my knowledge and explain why I do what I do. My understanding of how the body works is grounded in a 4-year undergrad degree, anatomy major, at the University of Saskatchewan; a 3-year massage therapy diploma from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy; 17 years of deep study into myofascial-visceral-nervous system anatomy and function; along with my experience as a 200-hr certified yoga teacher and athlete. There are many aspects that contribute to the experience of pain, and I endeavour to share what I’ve learned so that you can move forward in your life with a knowledge-informed plan. I am an eternal student as well as a teacher.

Inspire.

I can help you move with more ease and inspire you to make the movement changes necessary to maintain that feel-good movement. I know you can make these changes and I’m here to support and guide you through it.
